My first jam!

Hello Players!

After some very busy weeks since the end of the Spooktober 4th Annual Visual Novel Jam (between commitments, seasonal flu), I finally manage to write this Devlog!

Before I continue, I'd like to take a couple of lines to thank everyone who tried " A stormy Halloween! ", thank you very much! I hope you enjoyed it! :)

This was my first Jam ever! A tiring experience yes, but even better than I expected!

I found out about the Spooktober 4th Annual Visual Novel Jam at the end of August but, due to some commitments, I could only start working on it after 11 September.
Since I didn't have any Halloween short stories in mind, I groped around in the dark for a couple of days looking for information about this holiday, hoping to find the inspiration to create a game in just 15 days. I was on the verge of giving up, when I later sorted out some files from the previous months and found inspiration!

During the summer, I had made a self-imposed promise to myself to take occasional weeks where I would stop working on my main game (i.e. PK PROJECT) so that I could get some rest.
Unfortunately I never manage to keep this promise to myself (this is very wrong! always take the right time to rest!) so, even during those "breaks" I continued to study to programme some little mini-games and, out of nostalgia, thinking back to the summer evenings when I used to play with my grandmother, I started to programme the game Memory (I don't know if it has the same name all over the world .-.).
At first there was no opponent, but playing Memory alone was rather boring so I not only programmed an opponent but also gave her a face...I am a designer after all :) !
I thought I was going to leave that project to its own devices and make a small collection of mini-games whenever I got around to programming new things, but since it seemed very in tune with Halloween I said to myself, why not convert it for the spooktober jam?

A few tweaks here and there, some animation and the addition of little ghosts that would be supportive and done!
the fortune teller finally took shape! ...no she doesn't have an official name at the moment XD

Well, the base was now solid, but the story lacked a purpose!
Reviewing the notes I had taken, I had read that in ancient times on Halloween night it was believed that the world of the dead and the world of the living came into contact and that offerings were made to appease evil spirits... what better offering than candy on Halloween night to appease an evil spirit as the antagonist of the story?

In the last remaining days, I planned the whole thing to the best of my ability, even deciding on the 4 endings depending on the choices the player would face, managing to complete the Jam on time and completing what I took as a personal challenge.

I'm really pleased with the result and I'm glad it was appreciated by those who tried it ^^

Maybe I'll come back to it adding all those ideas I couldn't implement due to the limited time, but for now I'm satisfied with it! :)

Thanks for reading, sorry for my English ^^" and keep having fun!
